Last spring, the US Patent and Trademark Office opened up a new and unusually popular category: medical marijuana. With this legal gray area allowed in fourteen states and being considered in several others, there is definitely a market for trademarked names and images in this category. The result was a rush of marijuana dealers and other businesspeople eager to own the legal rights to the names for their products.
